More than 1 month here..

This week I would like to talk about some small things at work.

This weekly blog I would like to start with the previous week. The previous week was the funniest week since I have been here. You would ask me why... I will tell you. As was told before the office I am working in has only 8 employees, and previous week everyone, except me and my supervisor was gone. There was an event in Italy, and two of the employees flight there, the other my colleague went to the other event in London and the others worked from home. It was very quiet in the office, especially when my supervisor left. I was alone in the office for a couple of hours, I was trying to work, and I actually did what I was assigned to, but it was quite difficult for me. You don't want to work when nobody is working, you just feel lazy. I felt like a cat, I just wanted to lay on the ground and do nothing. But there was also an advantage of staying alone, I was leaving earlier those days as my supervisor let me do so.

Also about the office. I showed you everything here, except of some rooms. The office has the meeting room, the bathroom, big hall and small office rooms for everyone, where are one or two persons working. I think the room where I am working is the biggest one. I am working here with my supervisor and the other intern, who studies masters in communication. So this is the only office where three people at once are working. But what about some places I haven't showed yes? I just wanted to show that we also have a printing room, with a big printer inside. For me this is printer where the paper and the color never finish :D

I also would like to tell you a little bit more about the company itself. Tech Tour focuses on two event categories - growth events, and emerging events. Growth events, for example the Tech Tour Growth 50, invite companies at the growth stage from across Europe to network and pitch business ideas. Emerging events focus on smaller companies, and offer potential to gain initial funding rounds, as well as business advice and the opportunity to network. In both categories, experts share knowledge, entrepreneurs pitch their companies, coaching sessions are held, and the business trends are explored. Tech Tour’s USP is the small and intimate nature of their events; giving participants an opportunity to make genuine connections with other attendees, and create contacts they will actually follow up with.
As an intern I am focusing on the emerging events.

For the events I need to follow up with the social media.
This is what the Managing Director of the Tech Tour says about the tone of voice in social media.
"We should turn a tedious calendar e-mail confirmation into a friendly invitation and powerful message. This by honoring and recognizing the mission of our community members and subtly underlining that we really care about them."
And I am trying to do my best to sound like it is stated above. The same works not only for the emails, but also for the twitter page, I am working with. I never thought that finding an article to promote the event is so difficult, maybe it is because I never thought that I will be working in the company that is working on that kind of events.
Actually, I really like working here. This work gives me the opportunity to travel. I am the person that really likes to travel and working in this company gives me an opportunity to visit three countries within just 5 month of working. I think this is really nice to visit more and more countries.

This is it for this week, this weekly blog was the WORKing blog, so I wanted to talk only about the work placement,I think the next week will be more about the work placement as well. But we will see..

And weekly fact is:
Brussels South Charleroi Airport is the most punctual airport in Europe – and it is ranked as the world's second best airport for on-time performance, just behind Japan's Osaka International, in OAG's punctuality report.

The forth week in Brussels..

Guess who's back? Back again... Sooooo let's start with the week number four. Today I will talk about my work placement more than about the Brussels or its weather. This week started with a "Work from home" job. Due to my English retake exam I wasn't able to work in the office, so I asked my supervisor to do everything I could do at home. And she agreed. While working at home I found out that this is not the type of work I like. I feel so lazy at home, I don't have any motivation to work. I think it is due to a lot of other things I actually can do at home, and these things are more interesting than work. Work from home..This made me think of "HOME". Person usually has only one place, where it feels like home. But I have two of these places. One is my flat back to Latvia, and the other one is just a small room in Deventer. I felt so warm and cozy when I came from Brussels to Deventer. I felt like home, I wanted to stay there and did...

The third week...

Hello everyone... It's me again... Today I want to discuss 3 topics: - Flora & Fauna of this beautiful city - The weather, that was killing me all this week - And finally how tough this week was Let's start with Flora and Fauna. The office where I am doing my internship in is located near my house, but in between my house and the office there is a big lake. Whenever I have my lunch break I am going there and chilling. The "Flora" of this city is actually very beautiful, I really like it. Notwithstanding Brussels is a big city, and it is not as green as, for example, countryside, but you can find many beautiful thing while walking around Brussels. Here are some views I can share with you: The "Fauna" is also very interesting. As I mentioned that there is the lake near the office, and there are many birds. Of course those are ducks, gooses and swans. But there is one kind of birds that I have never seen before. This bird actually l...

Hello everyone! This is the second week of my work placement. Are you excited to read about what I went through on the second week of my work placement? If yes , then read everything below, you will find it out. But firstly, I want to tell you more about the event I am working on.  I mentioned it last week.  The Benelux Venture Forum. This is the event for only Benelux region companies. Do you know what the Benelux region is? If you want me to tell you the truth, I didn’t know what the Benelux region is, but when I started this work placement I found out that these are 3 countries. Benelux countries are the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Should we consider this as an interesting fact I’ve promised to tell you every week? I don’t think so.  So actually, now I know that the country I am doing my internship in is from the Benelux region. But looking forward to Benelux Venture forum event... What it actually is? Benelux Venture forum (BVF) is th...
