The week number Seven

Hi, there...
Well, I am working at Tech Tour for almost two months already.

These two months past really fast, I thought it would last longer.
This is my weekly blog, and today I will tell you about one more week at Tech Tour.
Today's table of contents:
  1. Other students in Brussels
  2. Walking distances
  3. Tickets to Maastricht
  4. School assignments

Let's start with the other students in Brussels. Before I came to Brussels, I knew that some of the students from my course, my classmates, also found an internship in Brussels, but I didn't think that we will keep in touch in Brussels.
At the time I came here, they have been here for 1 month already, they contacted me and asked if I would like to go out, to sightseeing Brussels. I agreed, I thought it was very good idea to go out and communicate with other students. Otherwise, I would have just stayed alone, discovering new places by myself.
That day we were walking a lot. I have an app in my phone that shows how many kilometers I am walking every day, and that day we walked more than 27 kilometers, that was something new for me. After this walk we went to their place to watch the movie and I thought that I will walk back home after, it was just one hour walking, but then I became too lazy and just booked the taxi back home.
Look! Almost 30 km.
About the walking distances. I have never walked so much as I do in Brussels. I don't take the public transport or taxi, I prefer to walk. It doesn't really matter how long I will need to walk, I will do it anyway. Every weekend I am going to the center, and it takes me one hour to be there, but this is healthy, isn't it? Public transport is not for free, but walking is for free, and you can use it as an advantage. You are student and you don't have money, come to Brussels and walk, because the roads here go up and down all the time, it's sometimes difficult to walk, and you feel you muscles burning. The best cheap gym ever!:D

Now a little bit about my work placement.
Oh my God! This week was really busy. We have the event in about two weeks, and we need to get ready for it. Companies that will present on the event always calling and asking questions, some of them don't respond, but they suppose to do it, if they are really willing to find the investors. Major things have to be done and this week I was working on those. I needed to redo the web page of the event, I feel like a hacker while doing this, because I am using the codes to make it. I again need to contact the companies to ask them to send all the information I need to proceed, but it is not working with all of them. And then the tickets. I need to book the tickets to Maastricht for 4 persons, but the partner of the company doesn't reply to us, so we cannot make the decision about the booking date. So everyone who's working on this event until now, is under pressure.
And the last one. While working on the event, I was also working on the school assignments. This week I worked on Personal Development form 2 and Me,Myself & I model 2. At the beginning of the internship I did those two, but now I had to make it one more time to see the changes. I think that I had made some changes, some of the points, that I thought were the strong points, became weak points, I found out that I need to improve something, so those can become the strong points. The same worked with the weak points, I have changed some to the strong points. I achieved something during these two months of work placement. Work placement helped me to understand myself better, it helped to figure out what I want exactly, and what I don't want to do in my life. And this Me, Myself & I form helped me to see what kind of general and professional competences I need to improve to achieve my goals.

TO BE CONTINUED....

And the weekly interesting fact is about the place I am going to visit soon:

The oldest Shopping Mall. The galleries Saint Hubert opened in 1847 making them the oldest shopping arcade in Europe. Tourists will find an assortment of high end brands like Delvaux, Belgian chocolate shops like Neuhaus and Pierre Marcolini and other artisanal Belgian shops.

The forth week in Brussels..

Guess who's back? Back again... Sooooo let's start with the week number four. Today I will talk about my work placement more than about the Brussels or its weather. This week started with a "Work from home" job. Due to my English retake exam I wasn't able to work in the office, so I asked my supervisor to do everything I could do at home. And she agreed. While working at home I found out that this is not the type of work I like. I feel so lazy at home, I don't have any motivation to work. I think it is due to a lot of other things I actually can do at home, and these things are more interesting than work. Work from home..This made me think of "HOME". Person usually has only one place, where it feels like home. But I have two of these places. One is my flat back to Latvia, and the other one is just a small room in Deventer. I felt so warm and cozy when I came from Brussels to Deventer. I felt like home, I wanted to stay there and did...

The third week...

Hello everyone... It's me again... Today I want to discuss 3 topics: - Flora & Fauna of this beautiful city - The weather, that was killing me all this week - And finally how tough this week was Let's start with Flora and Fauna. The office where I am doing my internship in is located near my house, but in between my house and the office there is a big lake. Whenever I have my lunch break I am going there and chilling. The "Flora" of this city is actually very beautiful, I really like it. Notwithstanding Brussels is a big city, and it is not as green as, for example, countryside, but you can find many beautiful thing while walking around Brussels. Here are some views I can share with you: The "Fauna" is also very interesting. As I mentioned that there is the lake near the office, and there are many birds. Of course those are ducks, gooses and swans. But there is one kind of birds that I have never seen before. This bird actually l...

The second week

Hello everyone! This is the second week of my work placement. Are you excited to read about what I went through on the second week of my work placement? If yes , then read everything below, you will find it out. But firstly, I want to tell you more about the event I am working on.  I mentioned it last week.  The Benelux Venture Forum. This is the event for only Benelux region companies. Do you know what the Benelux region is? If you want me to tell you the truth, I didn’t know what the Benelux region is, but when I started this work placement I found out that these are 3 countries. Benelux countries are the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Should we consider this as an interesting fact I’ve promised to tell you every week? I don’t think so.  So actually, now I know that the country I am doing my internship in is from the Benelux region. But looking forward to Benelux Venture forum event... What it actually is? Benelux Venture forum (BVF) is th...
