Week 9

Well... How should I start this week's blog?

Every week I had time to write the blog for you all at work , but this weekly blog I am writing at home, because this week was really busy; new experience.
Now table of contents. Actually, the table of contents makes it easier for me to structure my blog. I know what I am going to talk about, and it helps to organize my thoughts.

So:
* Busy working days
* Staying longer in the office

* Golden autumn
* Step 8: university assignment

Let’s start with the first point, the working days. This week became even busier than it was last week, as the event, Benelux Venture Forum event in Maastricht, is already approaching. The next week’s Monday we are going to Maastricht, as the event will take place on Tuesday. You could ask why are we going on Monday not Tuesday then? Well... The BVF will start at 10am on Tuesday, so we need to prepare everything in advance. By the way, this will be 2 days event. As we are going on Monday, there will be three days out of office work, isn’t it nice? This travelling is one more advantage of this work placement. Before an event, you need to work hard to get everything ready to make the event go smoothly. Every day of this week I needed to do many things, I really felt  under the pressure. My supervisor asked me one thing, than I needed to do another thing, and I got a bunch of more “to do” things. I  pushed myself to write them down, because I didn't want to forget the things I supposed to do.

So here the day when I needed to stay longer comes. Friday was the last day we could prepare everything. Many printing materials that had to be done, many administrative tasks that should be done too, I also needed to collect the presentations that companies were sending to me, and prepare the name badges etc. My supervisor asked me to stay longer on Friday to make sure that everything has been done so far, so I stayed. We worked without the lunch, and worked longer, but I think we did a great job; we prepared everything and just left some things for Monday’s morning.

Next: the golden autumn. In the country where I am from, Latvia, it is a golden autumn, and has been like that already for a long time. However, the weird thing is that in Brussels all trees were green until this week. Moreover, it became so beautiful, leaves were green but became yellow, a golden yellow. Isn’t it beautiful to see how the nature is changing? I really like it. This is the weirdest and at the same time the most beautiful autumn, I have seen in my life.

In addition, the last topic I would like to talk about is step 8: university assignment. This is the first week I do not have any time at work to do my university assignments, but I will meet all the deadlines I promised myself to meet. I have one deadline coming up next Friday 16 of November, if I am not mistaken it’s Friday, but anyways I have the reminder in my calendar, in case I forget about it. The next assignment that has to be done is intermediate assignment by the company supervisor and Personal Development form 2. Personal Development form has to be done together with the supervisor, so she can give a proper comment on how I can better develop myself. I talked to my supervisor and we decided that we will do these two assignments in the train while going to the event in Maastricht and if will not manage to finish it there, and then we will do it after the event in the office. I think that many assignments are done in the train while travelling, especially in the Netherlands, but those are only my thoughts. I know that I will manage and submit my assignments on time, as this is the main point of good time management. Everything has to be done on time, or even a couple days before the deadline, so you will never feel the pressure of the time.

Weekly fact:
The world’s deepest swimming pool, reaching 35 meters in depth, can be found in Brussels. It is a practice ground for scuba divers. Funny enough, it’s name is Nemo33.

The forth week in Brussels..

Guess who's back? Back again... Sooooo let's start with the week number four. Today I will talk about my work placement more than about the Brussels or its weather. This week started with a "Work from home" job. Due to my English retake exam I wasn't able to work in the office, so I asked my supervisor to do everything I could do at home. And she agreed. While working at home I found out that this is not the type of work I like. I feel so lazy at home, I don't have any motivation to work. I think it is due to a lot of other things I actually can do at home, and these things are more interesting than work. Work from home..This made me think of "HOME". Person usually has only one place, where it feels like home. But I have two of these places. One is my flat back to Latvia, and the other one is just a small room in Deventer. I felt so warm and cozy when I came from Brussels to Deventer. I felt like home, I wanted to stay there and did...

The third week...

Hello everyone... It's me again... Today I want to discuss 3 topics: - Flora & Fauna of this beautiful city - The weather, that was killing me all this week - And finally how tough this week was Let's start with Flora and Fauna. The office where I am doing my internship in is located near my house, but in between my house and the office there is a big lake. Whenever I have my lunch break I am going there and chilling. The "Flora" of this city is actually very beautiful, I really like it. Notwithstanding Brussels is a big city, and it is not as green as, for example, countryside, but you can find many beautiful thing while walking around Brussels. Here are some views I can share with you: The "Fauna" is also very interesting. As I mentioned that there is the lake near the office, and there are many birds. Of course those are ducks, gooses and swans. But there is one kind of birds that I have never seen before. This bird actually l...

The second week

Hello everyone! This is the second week of my work placement. Are you excited to read about what I went through on the second week of my work placement? If yes , then read everything below, you will find it out. But firstly, I want to tell you more about the event I am working on.  I mentioned it last week.  The Benelux Venture Forum. This is the event for only Benelux region companies. Do you know what the Benelux region is? If you want me to tell you the truth, I didn’t know what the Benelux region is, but when I started this work placement I found out that these are 3 countries. Benelux countries are the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Should we consider this as an interesting fact I’ve promised to tell you every week? I don’t think so.  So actually, now I know that the country I am doing my internship in is from the Benelux region. But looking forward to Benelux Venture forum event... What it actually is? Benelux Venture forum (BVF) is th...
